Since I was a little kid, I was passionate for journalism and documentaries in general. That is definitely one of reasons why my photography is deeply influenced by these genres. The aesthetics and thematic of my images align with them in different ways.
Photojournalism and photodocumentary have in their core to use images to tell stories. Storytelling is a powerful tool to convey a message and my photography is always trying to portrait one. In the examples above you can see that clearly.
On the first picture the story behind the image is about the displaced indigenous groups in Colombia due the very long conflict that specially in the most recent years has led to the killing of thousands of people – mainly indigenous – and fleeing from dozens of thousands of others.
On the second one, the story behind is about the control, monitoring and persecution imposed by the Chinese authorities on the country, especially on minorities.
The last one is about the normality and joy that can be find even in one of the most violent and closed slums of Brazil.
